"People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it."
- George Bernard Shaw
How does one properly summarize who they are on an "about me" page? You don't, of course, and yet I'm writing one anyway.
And why build a website at all? No one goes to these things anymore, they've all been replaced with Facebook or Instagram or LinkedIn. The short answer is, I enjoy creating things. I was the type that modified my MySpace page until it no longer resembled MySpace. This is just like that - my own, fancier version of MySpace. It lets me tinker with coding and be creative.
I created this website as a respository for fun projects I've worked on, memorable trips that I've taken, and things I've done with my family. Who's the audience? Anyone, and no one. I guess it's for me, mostly. I find when I document things, it motivates me to create more things to document. It's like keeping a log of "quests" I've completed. When the last "quest" I completed was too long ago, I know I need to start planning more of them.
First and foremost, I'm a dad of two great kids (Alex and Melanie), husband of one great wife (Tanja), and "mom" of two cats (Ranger and Mitzy). I live close enough to Seattle to claim it as my home, but far enough from Seattle to still have a yard, a garage, and relative peace and quiet, minus the occasional flyover out of Seatac.
I attended college at the University of Washington, and shortly after graduation I started working at The Walt Disney Company, where I worked for almost 25 years in various business units. I'm now in the market for a new gig, and in the meantime I'm keeping busy with my own projects at home, going on walks, taking long drives, and generally doing whatever.
For fun I enjoy going to concerts, hiking, reading, listening to music (anything but country!), cooking, playing video games (mostly RPG's), fixing electronics, doing various house projects, working in the yard, going grocery shopping (yes, these are things I actually enjoy!), and traveling from time to time.
Oh...and I'm also looking for a job at the moment. If you've read this far, perhaps you'd like to check out my résumé?
